Dear DFS,
My wife Gloria and I (I’m her husband) were in your shop recently. In fact we go there every Saturday for a sit down- We find that after many hours shopping we need a good sit down. Most other shops don’t provide seating, I’m told to keep us all moving and buying, but your shop provides loads of seats. In fact there are so many of them that we’re not sure what you actually sell.
We find your staff so friendly (we have only been asked to leave on two occasions, unlike the others). Anyway, I’ll get to the point of me contacting you-
I’m quite sure I lost a £1 coin down the back of one of your sofas and I was wondering if you could have a good rummage around them all. The pound coin was either very shiny or very dull or a mixture of both or not at all but I definitely had it before I entered your shop (I think) and it isn’t there now. I regret that I can’t narrow the search down to any particular sofa as we did try all of them (we even nipped into your staff room and sat on one in there). You see Gloria has a touch of OCD and she must sit on every sofa before leaving. On the day in question we left it quite late and didn’t get into your shop until 2 minutes before closing, so it was probably the vigorous jumping on and off your sofas that dislodged the pound from my pocket.
Anyway, please could you inform me if you’ve had any luck in finding it? I’m writing to four other shops with sofas that we must visit each Saturday (Gloria’s OCD again). Gloria thinks I should just let it go. She says the cost of 5 stamps is already more than a pound but I’m afraid once I’ve put my mind to something I won’t let it go. This pound will be found!
Yours Sincerely,
John J Marley
